Top HR and Business Podcasts to listen to in 2023

Podcasts are all the rage these days and you can find content to listen to about pretty much any niche. HR is no different, and there is a great deal of options when it comes to the variety of issues covered, the expertise offered and the guests interviewed.

In this blog, we pick out five of our favourite HR podcasts for your listening pleasure in 2023.

Last month, we covered the top HR leaders to follow in 2023  so you could keep up-to-date with trailblazing leaders in your industry. We know you often have a multitude of things to juggle, but you’re a passionate HR leader who cares about your employees – so this time we’ve gathered five of our favourite human resources podcasts in one place, to help you discover timely and easily digestible thought-pieces, even if you’re on-the-go.

HR Means Business

Hosted by HR commentator, author and analyst Mervyn Dinnen, the HR Means Business podcast launched in November 2022 bringing regular conversations with guests from the worlds of Human Resources, Talent and Technology, endeavouring to make sense of the ever-changing commercial world. Each episode covers different ways in which HR can help steer managers and employees through change, all while supporting and enabling their growth and development.

With four episodes in the series so far, we’re drawn to HR Means Business due to its people-centric focus. So far, renowned HR leaders such as Perry Timms, Gemma Dale and Derek Irvine have appeared on the podcast, covering issues such as employee recognition, how to make remote and flexible working successful, and the importance of belonging and purpose in the workplace.

WorkLife

WorkLife is a TED original podcast that has transcended the HR industry, averaging more than a million ears per episode. Hosted by organisational psychologist and multiple best-selling author Adam Grant, WorkLife takes listeners inside the minds of some of the world’s most unique professionals to explore the science of ‘making work not suck’.

Whether it’s learning how to cope with – or even love – criticism, to harnessing the power of frustration, this podcast has become hugely popular for the way it helps change people’s perceptions about work and gives people the tools to find enjoyment out of it. It’s effectively a how-to guide for loving a career, living by the mantra that we all spend a quarter of our life at work, so we should enjoy it.

Leading the Future of Work

Continuing the TED theme, Leading The Future of Work is a podcast series presented by TED speaker and author, Jacob Morgan. The podcast features insightful conversations with renowned thinkers, best-selling authors, and leaders of some of the world’s most recognisable businesses including Netflix, Volvo and Deloitte.

Why do we love Leading the Future of Work? Well, if you live and breathe all things HR like we do, there is a huge wealth of content for you to get your teeth stuck into! With a back catalogue of more than 700 episodes, and a new episode out each week, you can digest leading HR insight to your heart’s content.

Digital HR Leaders

Now this really is up our street. Listeners of this series will hear from a variety of senior HR leaders who are advocating a digital and data-driven HR agenda. There can understandably be a sense of uncertainty and apprehension when engaging in a significant digital transformation project, something which host David Green looks to alleviate with his variety of expert guests.

New Digital HR Leaders episodes are released fortnightly, with David drawing on his expertise as Senior Vice President & Managing Partner of people analytics consultancy Insight222. He speaks with senior HR leaders to discover the transformative impact Digital HR has had on some major global companies’ ability to get the best out of their people.

People Managing People

People Managing People is an online hub of HR industry content, helping HR teams build happy, healthy and productive workplaces. It features a range of entry-level HR collateral including templates and handbooks, as well as more sophisticated, in-depth resources which help HR professionals navigate the different facets of the employee lifecycle.

The People Managing People podcast in particular is for people managers and culture creators who are on a mission to lead better. It supports those HR and business leaders looking for ways to become a better organisational leader and more effective people manager, discussing a range of tips, tricks, and tools needed to recruit, retain and manage an organisation and the people within it more effectively.
