About the speaker
Jenny Barnes now identifies as a data scientist, but it has not always been that way.
She has been a merchandiser, a supply planner and a category analyst. Her rewarding career to date, she attributes to her data literacy training amongst other opportunities to learn at work.
We are living in the most data-rich era caused by the Internet of Things. Every single worker has a role in creating, collecting, and analysing data to inform their business activities to do more of what works and less of what doesn’t in their line of work.
‘Before I earned my stripes through experience and leadership in the world of work, I got a head start in how to create and nurture environments for people to thrive by studying a Masters in Human Resource Management. Environment is key to creativity and productivity and we have to recognise the relationship people have with digital systems if we are to collaborate with others and have profitable business activities.’
